In 2007 Ross Gurreri, brother to Domenic Gurreri and Liborio Gurreri, lost his hard-fought battle to cancer. The shining star of our family, the youngest of three boys, a dutiful son to our parents, he was truly a great person. I suppose it's not quite accurate to call the death of someone who lived with cancer unexpected, but Ross's death was unexpected for our family. The shattered remnant of our heart is strangely beating still, with holes so black and fathomless, no light could ever fill. It's hard to face each day without Ross. In honor of Ross's life and works, the Ross Gurreri Park was commissioned in 2010 in Kleinburg, and a Courtyard was dedicated in his memory in the Parde Pio Church. The Gurreri Family, ardent supporters of charitable causes over the years, has continued its work to generously support various charitable organizations, making a difference in the lives of many.
The Gurreri Family is proud to culminate each year with an annual gala dinner and dance held in Honor of Friends for The Hospital of Sick Kids. Since its inception, this annual event has successfully raised thousands of dollars for cancer research and family services, a cause the family believes in. It's our goal to make every child happy, as there is no greater joy in life than to see the faces of happy kids. This family is always looking for local businesses and residents to get involved with charitable, in order to continue to make a difference in the lives of others. |
